Merivale Podiatry Biomechanical Assessments

Biomechnical Alignments & Asessments

Unsure what’s wrong with your feet? Wondering if you’re caring for your feet properly?

This is where a biomechanical assessment comes in. A biomechanical assessment is perfect for people with flat feet, bunions, shin splits, or pain they can’t explain. It enables your podiatrist to examine the overall health of your feet and develop a specialised plan to minimise your biochemical pain and get you moving more comfortably.

What is a biomechanical assessment? What happens during a consultation?
Think of it as a WOF for your feet. It’s a dynamic assessment of your lower limbs. Your podiatrist will examine your joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. They’ll also undertake a gait analysis to examine your foot functionality, structure and behaviour, and how this affects your body. Our ankle and foot biomechanics experts use innovative, slow-motion video analysis to assist with diagnosis. This allows your podiatrist to examine each second of your gait cycle, enabling a detailed assessment of your foot position and body function.

What should I bring to my biomechnical sports therapy consultation?
If you have a referral, please bring it with you. If you have any reports, x-rays, old orthotics or innersoles, please bring them too. The more information you can bring us the better. Please bring 2-3 pairs of shoes that you commonly wear (for walking, running and work, for example). This allows us to check if your shoes are suited to your foot type and check for uneven wear on your shoes.

Don’t let little pains become big problems. Get a biomechanical assessment booked today and feel confident that your feet are good to go.
